Wireless Network

The computer network in each of our offices is wireless. This enables the doctors, and the staff to move around the facility unencumbered, while at the same time be connected to the practice management system that we use for patient informatics. The offices are connected to the servers via a T-1 line. This provides the fastest data transmission currently available. Information is available in “real time”.

Electronic Medical records (EMR)

For the past three years, our offices have been completely paperless. The medical records for each patient are stored in an “electronic chart”. This is created at the time of the initial visit. This “chart” is available to the doctors instantly, via the wireless network within the office. In addition, the doctors are able to log-on to the office servers from home, while taking call in the event that there is a situation where information on a patient is needed. In the office the doctors and the nursing staff use portable, wireless, tablet pc’s to enter, recall and store each patients records.

This state of the art technology has advanced the efficiency of the practice by quantum leaps. No longer is time wasted looking for a chart in order to have patient information. It is literally available at the press of a button. Patient notes and all diagnostic test results are available instantly.

FOR YOUR CONFIDENTIALITY, ALL PATIENT RECORDS ARE PROTECTED VIA SEVERAL LAYERS OF FIREWALLS AND PASSWORDS.

Instant Access To The Physician On-Call

Our practice provides our patients instant access to the doctor on-call by utilizing a computer link to that doctor. In the event of an after hours emergency, by calling our office, the caller merely has to press the #1 button on the phone and the call is immediately transferred to the doctor on-call. No more waiting for operators to answer, and waiting for the doctor to call you back. In our practice, you have instant access to that doctor.

Diagnostic Ultrasound

For years, we were forced to refer patients out of the office for diagnostic ultrasound exams. For the past several months, we have been providing that testing in our offices. Each office is equipped with a state of the art ultrasound machine. Each machine is connected to a printer so that the images can be stored. Our doctors, and nursing staff have extensive training for this technology. Diagnostic ultrasound is used to confirm the diagnosis of inter-metatarsal (Morton’s) neuromas, various tendon pathologies, bone stress fractures, soft tissue masses, and many other conditions, which occur in the foot.

By having this machine in the office, it provides our patients the convenience of not having to travel to another office, and, pay another insurance co-pay. This test is covered by most insurances.

Extra-Corporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

ESWT is a very effective non-surgical way to treat heel and arch pain. The technology is very similar to what has been used for many years for kidney stones. When our doctors feel that it may be an appropriate therapy for your condition, they will discuss it with you. Please feel free to mention it to your doctor, however.

The success rate for treating chronic painful plantar fasciitis, and heel spur syndrome is approx 75-80%. A major advantage to this therapy as opposed to the traditional surgical approach is that there is no disability (down-time) following the procedure. You can return to work, and a regular schedule of activities the next day.

Digital Orthotic Scanning

Mid-Atlantic Podiatry Associates incorporates the latest computer technology to fabricate custom made orthotics (arch supports).

Orthotics are devices that are used to modify foot function and are designed to treat and correct various biomechanical foot problems.

The most effective orthotics are custom-made devices that are designed to meet the specific needs of each particular individual.

By using a digital system, it is more accurate than stepping in a foam box as well as faster and less time consuming than getting a cast made with plaster.

Neo orthotics and the Digital Gait system, utilized in this practice, employs a revolutionary new technology that yields the most accurate and comprehensive collection of data for the computer generation of custom orthotics in podiatry today.

It’s an easy, quick, no-mess technique, which is accurate, and produces top of the line orthotic devices for each patient.

Digital Orthotic and Gait Analysis.

We now offer digital orthotic and gait analysis. This advanced technology allows us to offer our patients the most precise technology available in the management of biomechanic pathologies seen in the foot and ankle. Our system allows us to create more accurate foot orthoses as compared to old methods like plaster casting and foam box impressions. Our data is wirelessly sent to our orthotic lab, which allows quicker turnover time and ultimately faster relief for our patients.
